The Amnesty International office was set in Malaysia in 1999. Today we have over 200 members, local groups in different parts of the country as well networks. Among the key human rights issues that we have prioritised in our 2007-2010 Strategic Plan include:
- Combating impunity and strengthening accountability of the police

- Promotion and the protection of migrants & refugees
|
- Advancing Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
|
- Combating gender discrimination and violence against women
|
- Working towards the reform of restrictive laws in Malaysia and abolishment of the death penalty
|
- Campaigning to end human rights violations in other countries as part of our international solidarity work
|
- Working towards a human rights culture in Malaysia through human rights education

Primary Functions Of Board
- To uphold AIM’s vision, mission and core values;
- To determine AIM’s Strategic Plan including its financial strategy;
- To establish systems of governance and delegation for the movement and to hold AIM and their members accountable;
- To evaluate the movement’s performance against its agreed strategies and plans;
- To draft and set up Guidelines and Regulations for the administration and campaigns of AIM including Networks and Groups.
